James Bond, the fictional character of MI6 agent inspired by a series of books by Ian Fleming, is now facing a lack of lead character as Daniel Craig is no going to do anymore film after No Time To Die, the latest in the Bond series.
Craig appeared in five movies as agent 007 since 2006 with Casino Royale. No Time To Die will be his fifth and last movie for James Bond series. The movie is twenty-fifth installment in the franchise and it is produced by Eon Productions. It is slated to release in April 2020.
Craig announced that he won’t be doing any further movies as James Bond and he wanted to retire after this last movie that is a continuation of the events of Spectre.
However, according to the film producers, the Bond franchise will go on and a new talent would preferably be given a chance to essay the iconic role.
From Sean Connery to Daniel Craig, the role of MI6 agent has always been played by men. And now when Craig announced his retirement from the series, people have been suggesting that perhaps now a female can be the next Bond.
However, Barbara Broccoli, the famed producer of the show alongside Michael G. Wilson, doesn’t think that a female would be a good choice for the role.
Putting all the speculations to rest, Broccoli said that ‘Bond will never be essayed by a female’.
“He can be of any colour, but he is male,” she said.
She continued: “I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.”
The Bond franchise is one of the movie world’s most lucrative and cherished franchise in the world and it has registered massive numbers in the worldwide Box office over the years.
