Legendary Pakistani actor, producer and screenwriter Sultan Rahi, who is known by many names by his Pakistani fans like brave fighter, Jean-Claude van Damme of Pakistan and many others, is being remembered by his fans on his 24th death anniversary today.
Rahi, who ruled Pakistani film industry and hearts of millions of fans, is among one of the most celebrated actors, with a career spanning over 40 years.
Sultan Rahi’s real name was Muhammad Sultan Khan. He starred in more than 700 Punjabi films, but also acted in over 100 Urdu films including Kalay Chor, Kalka, Jungle Ka Qanoon, Insaniyat, Madam Rani, Aulad, Yeh Adam and many more.
His 1979-hit Punjabi movie Maula Jatt became the biggest hit and earned him much prominence. Also, he received many awards for best acting in the movie. Fans of Sultan Rahi still remember and share his famous dialogue from the movie ‘Maulay Noo Maula Na Maaray Te Maula Mar Nai Saghda’.
Other famous Punjabi movies of the great actor include Sher Khan, Bashira, Chiragh Bali, Behram Daku, Chan Varyam, Moti Dogar, Ghunda Raj Akbar Khan and more.
On the occasion of 24th death anniversary of legendary actor, fans and followers, Government of Pakistan, news channels and many others paid tribute to him on social networking site Twitter.
Government of Pakistan posted a commemorative profile of Sultan Rahi on its official Twitter account and wrote a heartfelt message on his anniversary.
“Death anniversary of Pakistani film legend Sultan Rahi is being observed today. He remained the most popular Punjabi hero during 1970s and 1980s. He appeared in more than 700 Punjabi and Urdu-language films and was named in Guinness Book of Records as most prolific actor.”
