Stories of police harassment are not new. Every third district reports cases of police harassment on daily basis and more than a hundred complaints are launched against the police brutality. This new part of Police in Naya Pakistan portrays something like that.
In this story, three policemen, including their Station House Officer (SHO) stop at a place that doesn’t come in their jurisdiction. The officer, who is drunk, orders the constables to start snap checking. Constables inform him that they can’t stop anyone here as this is not their area. Officers slams them and tells them not to teach him about his jurisdiction. The constables obey his orders.
While on alert, the two see a car coming from the front. They stop the car. The citizen asks for the reason to stop him on the road. Police constables ask him if he was having any alcohol in his vehicle. The person denies and shows the papers of his vehicle and his license. They throw away his papers and demand money from him. He gets shocked.
When the person threatens them to file a case of harassment against them, the officer orders his subordinates to kill him. Constables get shocked and ask their boss if he was serious. The drunk officer again yells at them and tells them to follow the orders. Shots are fired. They killed him!
The officers starts to make announcement saying that the police killed a terrorist in a late night raid. He comes out of his vehicle and starts moving towards the dead person. When he reaches closer, he gets a great shock. Turns out the person he ordered to kill is his own brother. The officer breaks down into tears. The light fell on his own house this time. And he ordered it! They say, ‘as you sow, so shall you reap’.
