This (Police in Naya Pakistan) shows the double standard of the society and how they treat poor and rich differently. In this short film, the dark side of the police has been displayed.
The video titled Police in Naya Pakistan shows the scene from a police station where a police inspector is seen probing an accused who is being kept in custody over charges of theft.
The police inspector asks the poor guy as to why did he steal a thousand bucks from the shop where he works. The guy tells him that his mother is ill and he asked his shop owner to lend him a thousand bucks so that he could get his mother treated in the hospital but the owner refused. So he stole them and got caught. The police inspector said that he will get big punishment for that thievery. A constable advices his senior to put other pending cases on him as they haven’t found the wanted criminals till now. The police inspector likes the idea.
When he finishes with the accused, he comes back to his seat. Meanwhile a well-suited personality enters the police station and both of the personnel stand up to welcome him. The person responds with pride and asks the inspector to hand over his file so that he could sign it. The inspector starts buttering him and says there was no need for him to come to the police station in person. They would come to him to get the signatures. The person says that he is in no mood to stay in the dungeon. Poor guy who is being held for a thousand bucks is watching the scene and thinking why this person was getting too much protocol.
After the person leaves, the police inspector leaves with him too to get the price for his loyalty. After they leave, the guy behind the bars inquires the constable about the person. The constable tells him that he is a former minister. He comes here for the appearance in corruption case worth billions.
The poor guy starts talking to himself and says that what kind of justice is this. He has stolen only a thousand bucks and he is being kept in custody for that whereas these guys steal billions of rupees from the national exchequer but they get no punishment for that. The laws are and punishments are only for poor while rich are looting the country and no one nabs them.
