Khalil ur Rehman Qamar on haters: ‘They are just jealous of my success’

Prominent writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar always finds himself in hot water for his anti-women comments. Recently, the Meray Paas Tum Ho famed writer landed into another controversy after he slammed women rights’ activist Marvi Sirmad during a talk show.

Many people, especially women, came to support Marvi Sirmad on different social media platforms. Some demanded the outspoken writer to apologize to Sirmad while some supported KRQ saying that whatever he did was necessary as the activist was being rude with him and not giving him chance to speak.

Recently, Khalil ur Rehman appeared on Waqar Zaka’s show where he spoke about being hated and criticized. He said that those showing hatred towards him are just jealous of his success as they can’t reach his level.

“The thing is, when you are being loved by the people, when you are getting successful day by day, when people want more from you, and when your dramas are a big hit, that is the time when you get more and more criticized, when some people just hate you for no reason. They are just jealous, they are big failures, they can’t reach your level,” he said.

KRQ continued: “I challenge them [critics] to do something that could make people forget Khalil ur Rehman Qamar. Do something that could make your place in people’s hearts. If you have some guts, face me and defeat me. You can’t defeat me with your words, I challenge you to do something that would push me backward.”

The 64-year-old further said that he has always wanted to make his country proud in other countries, especially India, by giving successful content.

“I just want to serve my country. They [India] were laughing at us for the content we were making in past. Our drams and movies were just rubbish. That’s when I decided to do something to show them what we have. I wrote Pyarey Afzal, Meray Paas Tum Ho, and the entire world saw the success of these dramas. I got positive comments from India. They wanted me to write for them, but I refused and said, Khalil ur Rehman Qamar will only write for Pakistan.”
