Upcoming movie of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, Chhapaak is facing a legal battle before its release as a law suit has been filed against the story of the film.
The story of Meghna Gulzar directorial revolves around the life events of a girl who is an acid victim and faces troubles in her life. From the hard hitting plot to Deepika Padukone’s amazing transformation, the movie is probably one of the most ambitious projects that tells about the tough life of those girls who face these kinds of revenge attacks and live a meaningless life since after.
Unfortunately, an Indian writer claims that the script of the movie was pirated. Rakesh Bharti filed a law suit against the team of Chhapaak in the Bombay High Court and claimed to have originally penned the script of an acid attack survivor.
“He [the writer] says that he originally had conceived the idea of the story and titled it as Black Day. He also claims to have registered the same with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA) in February 2015,” said the director of the movie, Meghna Gulzar during an interview.
She added that Rakesh Bharti also sent an official complaint to the producers of the film.

“Lack of response forced him [Rakesh] to approach the court. The writer has approached another professional to compare his script with Chhapaak,” she added.
Meghna was also of the view that the purpose of the writer behind approaching the court was that he wanted a credit in the film.
Talking about the film, Chhapaak is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Apart from Deepika Padukone, the film will also see Vikrant Massey play a pivotal role. The film will hit the cinema screens across India on January 10.
