Badshahi Masjid puts ban on wedding photo shoot

Badshahi Mosque in Lahore is one of the memorable monuments of Pakistan that still stand tall. The mosque was built in 1673 and it has welcomed millions of people including foreign tourists since then.

Every year, hundreds of tourists, mostly from foreign countries who visited Pakistan, keenly visited this place and take pictures of this masterpiece. Not only this, but the Badshahi Masjid was also used for wedding photography. Newly-wed couples came here to have their photo shoot inside and outside of this stunning Mughal architecture.

Many celebrities have also had their Nikkah and wedding shoots in this mosque. Urwa Hocane and Farhan Saeed are one of them.

Unfortunately, the administration that looks after the mosque has now banned wedding photography.

However, according to a local magazine, the administration has announced that the photo shoots that were already scheduled to take place in the mosque would still happen. But no new projects would further be allowed and the photographers won’t be allowed to take wedding couples inside the mosque for photos.

“Badshahi Masjid has banned wedding photography. Current bookings are safe but no new bookings will be taken until further notice,” read the magazine story.

This might be disappointing for the about to be newly-weds, however, the photography community is secretly happy because of all the hassle they have to go through.

“The photographers, if permitted for photo shoots, were only given 15 to 20 minutes of time to do all the photography. Everyone knows it is totally impossible to complete the entire photo shoot in this time span. Only making things ready takes almost half an hour,” said one of the team members of renowned photographer Palwasha Minhas, who is known for having all major contracts of celebrities for organising photography session inside the mosque.
