Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn is all praise for Saif Ali Khan for his role in their upcoming movie Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, saying that the actor was a perfect choice for the role he’s played in the movie.
Ajay, when asked to reveal some details about the roles played by lead actors, said that he wanted Saif Ali Khan to star in the movie with him as he thought that the Kal Ho Na Ho actor would play the role like no one else.
Saif Ali Khan is playing negative role in the movie. He will be seen in the character of Uday Bhan, a Rajput working for Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
Ajay in a recent interview revealed why Saif Ali Khan was perfect choice for this role. Here’s what he says:
“We wanted someone who could emote and depict the character well as he is at loggerheads with Tanhaji. We wanted one who’d be wicked and quirky. The idea was to find an actor with gravitas. Saif was perfect for the role. We’ve gotten along well right from our first film, Kacche Dhaage [ 1999] and then, Omkara [ 2006]. We narrated the script, and he instantly liked it. Even though we didn’t work together as much as we should have [in the past], I am glad we collaborated on this film.”

The Phool Aur Kaante actor, while speaking about the character of Uday Bhan, said that he always wanted to make a movie on this personality as the history textbooks in school didn’t do justice to this [Uday Bhan’s] character.
“The most important thing for me is to see if a story is worth telling or not. Tanhaji was indeed an unsung warrior. The two paragraphs on him in school [ textbooks] don’t do justice,” said Ajay Devgn.
Tanhaji also stars Kajol, Jagapathi Babu, and Sharad Kelkar in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on January 10, 2020.
